Tuition Free Universities in Germany With Study Programs in English Language

Do you want to study free in Germany in a school where the languageof instruction is English? I know you may have searched the internet for such schools without being able to find one. Yes, the reason is that many programs in German universities especially the undergraduate programs are instructed in German language. Only very few schools have study programs in English language.

These universities offer courses in various fields like Engineering, Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities, Environmental sciences etc. Note that to apply for study in these schools, you may have to present an English language test result like TOELF or IELTS, which will be used to ascertain candidates proficiency in the use of the language. Most universities accept a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 and a TOELF score of 61 for the internet and 550 for the paper based test respectively.
I have decided to search for these schools where the language of instruction is English for many programs, and will be posting them here shortly. Before I do that, I will like to say a little about the cost of living in Germany and the procedures involved in obtaining a study visa to the country.
Cost of living in Germany
As a student, you will need about €500 to €600 a month to take care of your living expenses like food, clothing, transportation, books, internet etc. Note that, if you are the prudent type, you could live on less, but if you not, you may end up spending more.
 Visa to study in Germany
Since public universities in Germany are operating tuition free education, students do not need to bother about tuition fee payment, But they will need to show the embassy that they have sufficient amount of money to take care of their living expenses. A minimum of €8000 on a block account is usually needed by the embassy. Alternatively, if a student has gotten a scholarship, he can present a letter from the scholarship provider stating that he has been granted a scholarship. Please contact the German embassy in your home country for more information on how to apply for the visa.
